A registered Non-Profit Company, U Sail Bermuda was set up by Charles and Maja Penruddocke. The aim is to make Sailing available and accessible on the waters of Harrington Sound, Bermuda. At any time and at a reasonable cost. From competent sailors who want to improve their existing skills, Olympic hopefuls eager for some dedicated coaching input and those who just want to enjoy the more recreational side of the sport. U Sail Bermuda caters for a wide range of sailors, at their base in the Hamilton Parish region of the North Atlantic Island.
Not simply content to provide the more traditional sailing-based activities, U Sail Bermuda has invested heavily over the recent months in equipment that caters to sailors looking for the more ‘extreme’ sailing experiences within the sport, namely foiling. For 2019, U Sail Bermuda has added the RS Aero to its fleet of sailboats and hopes to attract sailors from further afield to come to Bermuda to enjoy learning to foil on the clear, warm waters of Harrington Sound.
With RS Sailing providing the boat and with a foiling kit provided by Glide Free in Australia, the RS Aero will provide the ability for U Sail Bermuda to have a product that can be used for both non foiling based sailing as a one-person sailboat for race coaching and day charter, but also as a platform that is perfect for delivering beginner / intermediate foiling experiences.
The new foiling activities which U Sail Bermuda will be delivering in the RS Aero will not purely be aimed at those sailors with existing foiling abilities. It will also enable sailors new to this skill to experience the basics of the initial ‘lift off’ stage of on-water foiling. The foiling taster courses, require no prior foiling experience but those wishing to take part must be at least an Intermediate level sailor, confident in controlling a one-person boat on all points of sail in a variety of conditions.
To book your RS Aero foiling experience in Bermuda or for further information on the full range of activities available, visit the U Sail Bermuda website (here).
On behalf of the entire U Sail team, we hope that our work keeps sailors sailing and that our efforts to engage with the very pinnacle of our sport. This will help generate continued interest in improving performance in a sport which Bermuda as a country has always been proud of!
