U Sail Bermuda has been funded by the Penruddocke Family. It is a non-Profit Company specially set up to bring back Sailing to Harrington Sound. By giving back to Sailing the Family hope to encourage the continued enjoyment of Sailing in Bermuda for those who have already learnt to sail but for whom owning a boat is not a realistic option. Being able to sail when it is convenient for them, is a tremendous advantage and at a reasonable cost.
Charles Penruddocke started corporate life in accountancy but spent more than 40 years in the Reinsurance world. Initially his experience was in London as a Lloyd’s Reinsurance Broker before moving the New York where he set up a Reinsurance Broker which he ran successfully for 10years.

His Underwriting career was initially in US for 10 years subsequently as a leading member of the Arch Re start up team in Bermuda where he spent nine years before heading up the Specialty underwriting business of Amlin Bermuda for the last seven years. His Sailing started by accident when he was eleven years old and polishing the lifeboat in Morfa Nevin South Wales. He has since sailed mostly in cruising classes in US, UK and Caribbean before coming to Bermuda 17 years ago and Sailing with RBYC.
